Member of CHSAA

Our high school began in 1998 as a member of the Front Range Christian Activities Association. As we grew and added more students to our high school, we were able to join CHSAA (Colorado High School Activities Association) in 2003. This move allowed us to improve our program for both boys and girls varsity sports.

If you come visit our gym, you will see numerous championship banners from our 5280 League. Many of our athletes have received sports colleges to many prominent Universities and Colleges.

For those sports we do not offer, our students are allowed to play for other CHSAA schools. Our students compete in football, track, golf, tennis, hockey, swimming, softball, (any sport that we don’t offer), and do very well.

Christian Minded Coaching

All our teams are coached with the mind set that we are ambassadors of Christ, competing aggressively in the sport. We strive to honor God by our ATTITUDE and EFFORT on and off the court. Competing for Christ does not imply soft, casual competition without regard for success, accomplishment, or victory. On the contrary, the best way to honor our Lord is to compete in His name with every ounce of our being, steadily focused on outperforming our opponent in each contest.

We honor Him in a win or a loss – by the manner in which we compete. We will, however, remain steadfastly focused on winning each contest, and leveraging everything the Lord has blessed us with to that end. We will never hold back our effort, and we will never compromise our attitude.

High School Girls Basketball

The girls Varsity and JV Basketball teams are coached by Rob Pierson. He has over 11 years of coaching experience that focused on kids of all ages throughout the Colorado Rocky Mountain Area. His coaching philosophy in focused on the team being ambassadors of Christ, competing aggressively in the sport of basketball.

He feels that every player on the team is necessary to the success of the whole program. As a coach he tries to identify those strengths, honor them as teammates, and incorporate them into the overall strategy. He strives to continuously seek ways to reinforce positive growth and contributions from all players. This is Rob’s first year as head coach at CCS, he is pushing the girls to a new level of intensity and skill driven play as they try to repeat last years winning season as District Champions.

High School Boys Basketball

Our Basketball program is one of the finest in the CHSAA 5280 League. Our excellent coaching staff and student athletes have continuously excelled in 1A play around Colorado. JV Head Coach: Shane Smith. Varsity Head Coach: Tony Perkins.

High School Volleyball

The volleyball team’s verse is Ecclesiastes 9:10a which states, "Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might." They truly take this to heart and this can be seen each time they take the court.

The coaching staff includes Krista Solomon and Kathy Smith. Krista Solomon is the head coach, and is on staff at CCS. She has coached at CCS for all 13 of the years that there has been a high school. She has coached several All-State players, and was asked to coach the All-State game that same year. She has worked camps at the Air Force Academy, our school camps, and is currently the coaching consultant for Dynamite Volleyball Club. In 2005 and 2006 she received Coach of the Year awards for the 5280 league. In 2009 and 2010 she was named Coach of the Year in the Metro North newspapers.

Kathy Smith has been the assistant coach and JV coach here at CCS for 12 years. Both are dedicated to the development of their players as athletes and as Godly young women. They build and maintain relationships that last long after graduation.

Varsity Cheerleading

The cheerleading team has the responsibility to build school spirit as well as support the CCS basketball teams. The girls are challenged and stretched throughout the season not only in their cheer ability but their spiritual walk and relationship with Christ.

The team is coached by Arlynda Breeds, she has been involved with cheerleading for over 27 years as a coach and cheerleader. Her personal cheer experience ranges from pop-warner to being a former high school cheerleading captain and also being part of the California All-Stars team. She has been pushing the girls to perform at a competitive level, taking first place at their first private cheer competition at Front Range Christian School in 2008 . Her goal as a coach is to see each girl grow not only in their physical ability but their spiritual walk. She has been very committed to the program since 2004 and continues to bring new and exciting ideas to the school.

Baseball

Our Varsity Baseball competes in the CHSAA 5280 League against other 1A schools. Our baseball team is coached by Mr. Dennis Cooper. Under his leadership, our team has consistently made it to post-season playoffs.

Our baseball team has made huge improvements since our official start in CHSAA in the 03-04 school year. Dennis Cooper began in the 03-04 school year and we have gone from begging kids to have enough to play to now starting a Junior Varsity program.

Assistant coach Bryan Cornish played college baseball at Mesa State in Grand Junction, earning All American status as a senior and Assistant Coach Jim Cleepe played college baseball at Regis University in Denver.

We have a very good relationship with several baseball organizations in the Denver area. The highlight for CCS baseball so far has been making it to the state semi-final game in 2007. We had a great weekend in Pueblo at Runyon Field beating Dove Creek 2-1. We then lost to Eads in the semi-final game. Eads went on to win the championship game.

We have had one all-state player, Derek Cooper in 2007, and 2 honorable mention all state players, Tyler Marr in 2007, and Tyler Smith in 2009.

Boys and Girls Soccer

CCS Varsity Soccer competes through CHSAA’s 3A league. We Compete in a higher class for soccer due to the fact that this is the lowest league in CHSAA. This brings us great challenges but even though we face larger schools we still remain competitive.

We believe that our athletes are given opportunities to build and develop Christ-like character through short devotions, practice and games. Our Motto is “It doesn’t matter if we win or lose, we choose to give God the glory and praise." We do schedule non-Christian schools so it gives us an opportunity to be a positive witness to non-believers for Christ Jesus. Our goal starts from the beginning of the season and it is developed to enhance the athletes’ God-given abilities. Play to win, while giving every athlete a chance to play in each game as they are eligible.

We believe in Proverbs 16:3 "Commit to the Lord in whatever you do and your plans will succeed."

Our challenge to our athletes:

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize?
Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes
in the games goes into strict training.
They do it to get a crown that will not last;
but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.
Therefore, I do not run like a man running aimlessly;
I do not fight like a man beating the air.
No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that
after I have preached to others,
I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.
